Welcome to Term 2

After a rather wild start to the year, I hope you are all feeling settled and energised after the term break.

Whether you have been with us for many years or have only just joined us this term, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to you all to Lewis Eady Music School. We are grateful to be a part of our music journey and look forward to connecting with you at your next lesson.

Learning a musical instrument is a joyful and rewarding experience. If you need a little encouragement to get started, to keep going, or if you simply want to inspire a friend or a family member to take up an instrument with you, I hope this wonderful excerpt will do the trick:

Music teaches us about our connections to the thoughts, feelings and voices of those from other countries and eras. It puts us in the mind and space of those who seem to experience lives very far from our own. It allows us to strip away all that separates us and urges us to see and feel what unites us. Ultimately our biggest challenge on this planet is to understand, empathise and elevate one another in pursuit of our common humanity. There is no greater challenge or reward.
— Nicola Benedetti CBE, classical musician, GRAMMY® winner, and a fierce champion of music education

REMINDER: GROUP FEES INCREASE

From Term 2, 2023, fees for group lessons and Musical Jam have increased to $185 per term (based on a 10-week term). This change has been reflected in your Term 2 invoice which was dispatched from 27 March.

We look forward to continuing to provide high-quality music teaching this year.

student SELF-ASSESSMENTS IN TERM 2

All students will be required to complete a self-assessment form by the end of Term 2.

Self-assessments are an important tool for students to reflect on their progress, identify strengths and areas for improvement, and set goals for future learning.

Our newly revised self-assessment forms contain questions based on the NZ Curriculum’s key competencies and the learning areas for ‘The Arts’, with specific pillars for reflection: Attendance, Preparation, Effort, Attitude, and Environment.

If you have any questions, please email musicschool@lewiseady.co.nz.

HEALTH & SAFETY

The safety of our students and tutors remains our utmost priority. We encourage all students to wash and sanitise hands often, handle their own gear at lessons (e.g. music books, chairs, music stands), continue to practise safe physical distancing, and wear face masks whenever possible.

Students displaying symptoms of cold, flu, or COVID-19 should not be coming to in-person lessons. For Great South Road students only, we can accommodate Skype lessons at your normal lesson day and time, provided that you let us know with sufficient notice (i.e., 4 hours in advance).

SAVE THE DATE: SUNDAY 25 JUNE
