Sauter | crafted by hand

One of only a few piano manufacturers in the world to craft their pianos entirely in-house using 100% German parts, skilled handcrafted labour defines the SAUTER sound, not machines.

SAUTER crafts by hand all the parts that gives a piano its soul. Brilliant, clear sound is a hallmark of this fine German piano – a tone that has been appreciated for nearly 200 years.

For Today's Living Environments

Internationally acclaimed interior designer Peter Maly has designed nine uprights and two grand pianos exclusively for SAUTER. These designs are truly new creations and represent completely different styles. They are based on extensive research into contemporary living environments and on the discovery that a piano is an obvious part of modern living and should be designed to reflect that fact.

In other words... a piano is not just an instrument, but a beautiful piece of home furniture.

New Vision for Piano Construction

The Design Edition marks a milestone in SAUTER's philosophy of innovation in the art of piano building. A main component of this philosophy is the perspective on which the design initiative is founded: the view past the boundaries of the instrument into today's living environments. And the need to integrate the culture of sound with that of living.

The Design Edition from SAUTER offers ample evidence of the "piano avant-garde," a visionary new interpretation of the piano, and variations on the sound space of the future. The result is timeless classics-clear, abstract and downsized.

Pure Basic

Less is more. Purism is the art of avoiding excess. The design radiates a quiet that gives the soul and player wings.

The new transparency. The Vitrea's vitality derives from the contrast between its cool glass front panel and the warm wood tones of the body panels that surround the glass. The Vitrea is particularly suited for light-flooded rooms with large glass surfaces, beautiful wood flooring and contemporary furnishings. The essence of its aesthetic is the sharp contrast between light and dark that gives structure to the design.

The elegance of gentle curves. An upright that plays with the design principle of curves. Its appearance is natural, soft and at ease. Like a composition circling a central motif.

Homage to the rhythm of the Modern period. Rachmaninoff and the glow of the skyline... An elegant allusion to the Art Deco period. Cool, black and lustrous. Distinguished and timeless. Like the beauty of music.

Reduction to the essential was the clearly defined goal of this design. There are no embellishments or unnecessary lines to be found on this piano. The instrument is characterised by the clarity and beauty of an archetypal form. Straight lines, cubist, timeless: Concent.
