Digital Pianos

DIGITAL PIANOS  FROM LEWIS EADY

The modern digital piano now comes in a wide range of styles designed to suit very different markets... therefore it is important to ensure that the digital piano you are purchasing is the correct one for your purpose.

Digital pianos are derived from piano technology. As opposed to keyboards, they have a full 88 note keyboard with a weighted action which resembles a piano's touch and sound. However these days there are many different varieties available and they primarily fall into three catagories.

Home Console digital pianos are designed as learning tools for students or are suitable for pianists who have nosie issues to contend with at home.

They will generally have good quality weighted actions and a variety of sounds available as well as other features such a headphone inputs, recording facilities and sometimes different effects and temperaments that can be applied.

Ensemble digital pianos combine keyboard technology in a digital piano and will have a multitude of features such as accompianments, sequencers and hundreds of different  sounds to name but a few.

These instruments have by and large replaced organs and are ideal for the likes of Churches and people who have at some stage owned an organ.

Portable and Stage Pianos. These quite often offer the widest appeal as they will combine aspects of the home console and ensemble digital pianos in an instrument which can be transported in the average car.

It is important however to appreciate that each of these instruments has its limitations and in partricular if you are after a digital piano for little Johnny to learn to play the piano, there will come a time when you will need to upgrade to a real piano.

KAWAI DIGITAL PIANOS

The authentic sound of Kawai Digital Pianos begins with the world renowned KAWAI EX Concert grand piano. Placed inside an anechoic chamber, free of audio reflections, the rich sound of this world class instrument is meticulously analysed and recorded by Master Piano Artisans.

The acoustic portrait of each note is later transformed into a precise three dimensional digital representation, employing Kawai's proprietary Harmonic Imaging technology. This unique process faithfully reproduces the broad dynamic range of the original grand piano, from subtle pianissimos to thunderous fortissimos.

Developed to accurately represent the touch of a real grand piano, the Advanced Hammer Action IV keyboard adopts KAWAI's remarkable springless construction, for a smoother, more natural, piano feeling.

Just as acoustic pianos utilise heavier bass hammers and lighter trebble hammers, the AHA-IV keyboard also employs different hammer weights, appropriately graded for each playing range to satisfy the demands of even the most discerning pianist.
